Getting started¶
Mitup doesn't work by adding it to your group. While other bots might need to be added to a group to gain context and permissions (this might be needed if the bot is intended to monitor conversations, like moderate the group), Mitup does not need anything from the group and, therefore, it has been developed with the goal of functioning entirely in a private conversation with each user.
To start using Mitup, just head to @mitupbot and start a conversation with it.
Registration process¶
Configuring the timezone¶
Once you start your conversation with Mitup, you will be greeted by the following message:
Setting up the timezone
Welcome to Mitup Bot Alice!
Let's start by setting your timezone. Send me the name of your city or, for a more accurate result, your location by pressing on 📎 and selecting Location.
Important: we do not store your location and this information is only used to configure your timezone.
The first step in the registration process is to define your timezone. This is important because meetings created in Mitup can have a date and a time and users who have joined the meeting will be notified before the meeting starts. To ensure everyone knows the exact start time, regardless of their location, each user must set their timezone.
The timezone can be set in two ways:
- By providing the name of your city
- By sending a message with your location
Privacy Notice
Mitup does not store the location sent while configuring your timezone. This is used only to find the timezone of the location sent. Once the timezone is set, the location is discarded.

Once your timezone has been set you will be greeted by the main menu and you are now ready to use Mitup!
